Why is fiber important to our diet?

The foods we eat are not the same our parents ate many years ago. Our foods are loaded with preservatives, hormones, steroids and things we cant even pronounce. What we have to do is be more aware of what we eat. We hear a lot about carbohydrates "carbs", what we have to realize is there is good carbs and bad carbs. All carbs contain sugar, they may come in the name of maltose, sucrose(table sugar), lactose(in dairy) and fructose(in fruits).

Fiber is the major factor that slows the absorption of sugar. If you absorb fiber at least 15 mins before a meal, what you have done is slowed down the digestive process. Slower digestion of carbs, less insulin. Less insulin less drop in blood sugar. Less of sugar rise and fall, less hunger later. Fiber is also great to regulate bowel movements to help keep your colon cleansed. Today is the day to start adding FIBER to your diet.
